John Franklin Wood, Jr. age 79 of Pleasant View, Tennessee died Monday, February 10, 2020 at Skyline Medical Center in Nashville.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1 o’ clock pm on Saturday, February 15th at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Pleasant View with Pastor James Clark officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday beginning at 11:00 AM until the hour of service at 1:00 PM.
Mr. Wood was born on November 16, 1940 in Matoaka, West Virginia to the late John and Margaret Rutledge Wood, Sr. He served over 30 years as a legal advocate for the Disabled American Veterans (DAV). He was a veteran of the United States Army and served during the Vietnam War era. John loved the outdoors, gardening, and was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, John F. Wood, III “Frank”, and a daughter, Ginger Wood.
He is survived by his wife, Lenna Wood; son, Travis (Meg) Wood; brothers, Carl “Tommy” (Tammy), Fred (Belinda), Rick (Dreama), and Rueben (Teri) Wood; sisters, Hattie Christian, Sue Wood, and Jere Jeffries; grandchildren, Jayden, Chris, and Eric Wood.
