On Friday, January 11, the Cheatham County Cubs invited the Harpeth Indians for some basketball action and celebrated their 2020 basketball homecoming.
When the ladies took the court, the Indians came out ready for a fight. It was touch-and-go, and the Indians took an early lead which they held on to until halftime. After a locker room pep talk from Coach Jim Gibbs, the Cubs came roaring out into the second half in full force, turning the game around quickly. Able to hold off the Indians in the final quarter, the Lady Cubs secured a 57-51 victory.
During the break between games, Ely Weakley was crowned basketball homecoming king for 2020.
Next, the men took the floor and the teams stayed neck-and-neck, ending the first quarter tied at 11. When the two teams returned for the second half, the visiting Indians went on a war path. They hammered the home team with fast breaks and accurate shots, ultimately punishing them with a 51-29 victory.
High scorers for the Cubs were Harley Hogan for the ladies with 18, and Tristan Lee who netted seven.
