Sycamore Students Got into Holiday Spirit with Christmas Events, Fundraisers

December 29, 2019

Students and teachers at Sycamore High School helped everyone in the community get into the holiday spirit with several Christmas-themed events and fundraisers. On December 12, the school’s choir put on a holiday concert and performed Christmas carols and other favorites. On that same night, the art department held a holiday ornaments sale and sold handmade ornaments to help raise funds for their department.

It was also a big evening for the Helping Eagles, who held one of their largest cookie sales to date. Many of the delicious baked goods were homemade treats in decorative holiday tins, and “we want to thank everyone who helped out,” said Regina Cornell, SHS Counselor. The sale raised almost $200 to go towards a clothing closet at the school to help students who may not have the clothes they need, Cornell said. The money, added to the $100 from previous sales in the fall semester, will help the closet open up when classes resume for the spring semester, she explained.

The Helping Eagles are still looking for gently used clothing of all sizes for the closet, and they will be accepting donations through Jan. 31.

For more information about donating to the clothing closet, call SHS at 615-746-5013.
