On Monday, December 9, Cheatham County Central High School held their football banquet and awards presentation. After enjoying a catered meal, numerous players were recognized for their achievements in athletics.
A large number of football players received their first-year letter, and an additional group received a bar for consecutive letter awards. Several cheerleaders were also recognized by their coach, and the booster club presented each senior football player with a gift package that included a specially designed football.
Seven players received awards for exceptional performances. Grit Light won the Hustle and Heart award, Nick Forsythe won Most Improved Player, Dawson Primm was selected as Offensive Player of the Year, Cooper Owen was named Defensive Skill Player of the Year, Joe Moseley was honored as Offensive Skill Player of the Year, and John Martin was awarded Offensive Lineman of the year.
Zach Kessler was selected as Defensive Lineman of the Year, Defensive Most Valuable Player, and Player of the Year. During his four years of football, Kessler attained 280 rushing yards, 205 receiving yards, 215 punting yards, 5 touchdowns, 13 pass breakups, 11 fumble recoveries, 6 forced fumbles, 252 tackles, and 28 sacks.
