December is a very busy month in Cheatham County.
Like every year, the days leading up to Christmas are filled with parades, charitable events, performances, luncheons, sales, and tree-lighting ceremonies.
This Saturday, December 7, marks the busiest day of the month for holiday-related events in the area.
To start the day, the Kiwanis Club of Cheatham County will host their annual pancake breakfast in the David McCullough Community Room in Ashland City from 7 AM to 10 AM. The cost for this is $5 per plate.
After that, the Town of Pleasant View will showcase their parade beginning at 10 AM. This year’s theme is “A Pleasant Christmas,” and the grand marshal, Janet Tabor. Pleasant View Jeepers, who have a strong presence in the town’s annual tradition, will be collecting toys to help less fortunate children this holiday season. Toys can be donated at city hall during regular business hours or put in the trailer as they drive by in the parade.
Following the parade, the Livery Stables in Pleasant View will host their annual Holiday Barn Sale. Until 3 PM, there will be a variety of booths for holiday shoppers to visit. Santa will be there directly after the parade and be available for pictures.
Across town in Ashland City, the celebrating will continue with the Tinsel Tables Bruch at the Senior Center from 11 AM- 1 PM.
The festivities at the Cheatham County Courthouse will begin at 1 PM during the annual open house. Santa will be there, along with a DJ and dancing, choir performances beginning at 1:30 PM, and refreshments. During this event, attendees can drop off toys for the county-wide drive.
The Braxton Lee Homestead is also hosting an open house from 1 PM until 4 PM, with Santa Claus scheduled to arrive at 2 PM. Attendees will enjoy tours of the home and a Christmas bazaar. At 5:30, a tree-lighting ceremony will be held on the courthouse lawn.
This will be followed by the Ashland City parade, which begin at 6 PM on South Main Street. This year’s theme is “Traditional Christmas.”
December 7 is also election day for Ashland City. Residents will be electing a new mayor and councilmen. There are over 2,800 registers voters within the city limit, and this right can be exercised between the hours of 9 AM and 7 PM at the Cheatham County Election Commission located at 188 John E. Mayfield Drive.
The following day, on December 8, Pleasant View will hold their tree-lighting ceremony at Pleasant View Community Park at 4:30. Churches and a local Girl Scout Troop will be performing carols. Refreshments will be served.
