Recently, over 300 Family and Community Education (FCE) members diverged on Franklin to enjoy three days of educational events. The theme was "Fired Up for FCE." Kathy Nicholson and Joyce Click represented Cheatham County at this event. Mrs. Click served as an instructor, teaching members how to make a candy cane wreath and Mrs. Nicholson served as her assistant. Other classes included jewelry making, ink art, herb gardening, table settings for the holidays, and so much more. Many members participated in off-campus events such a historical walking tour and Bell Meade Mansion.
Members also participated in a Fashion Revue and Cultural Arts exhibits. Jerri Moore exhibited her beautiful jewelry and Joyce Shepler was also recognized for her creative writing piece.
Family and Community Education clubs are a network of men and women who are taking a stand for families, are changing their communities for the better, are looking for ways to enrich their own lives, and are empowering others. There are currently two clubs in Cheatham County. The day club meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 10:15 a.m. at the Sr. Center at Ashland City. The Cumberland Valley Club meets the fourth Tuesday of each month at 6:00 p.m. This club also meets at the Sr. Center at Ashland City, however, you do not need to be a member of the Sr. Center to attend.
