Tomlin Preps for Upcoming Tampa Fight, Supporters Plan to Follow

Lightweight prospect Ty “Short Fuse” Tomlin looks to run his record to 3-0 when he battles veteran Calvin Smith in a four-round contest Saturday, November 23, at the Bryan Glazer Family JCC in Tampa, FL.

Dubbed as “Rumble in the Bay,” the card is promoted by DiBella Entertainment in association with Rite Hook Promotions & Pier 6 Promotions.

On August 20, 20-year-old Tomlin headlined a Tri-Star Boxing card in Nashville. Although it’s highly unusual for a fighter in his second bout to serve as the main event, Tomlin proved to be worthy as he brought a massive crowd to witness his first round TKO of Kevin Cooper.

“Team Tomlin” expects more than 50 supporters to make the upcoming 10 hour trip to Tampa.

“This is my first fight outside of Nashville so we’re excited about it,” said Tomlin, who was ranked number three in the nation as an amateur.

“I want to thank all of my fans that will be coming down for the fight and our sponsors for making this possible. We’re hoping to end the year with another victory.”

Will Hunter of Rite Hook Promotions, a co-promoter of “Rumble in the Bay,” was in Nashville for Tomlin’s professional debut this past May, and believes he can become something special.

“I was ringside for his debut and was really impressed. He came in great shape and can really fight. Ty has a great fan base that is willing to travel beyond normal lengths to support him. He’s got a really bright future and I’m excited to see him fight on our card November 23.”

If all goes according to plan in Tampa, Tomlin will kick off 2020 by fighting Thursday, January 16, for Tri-Star Boxing at the Fairgrounds Nashville.
