The new Hampton Inn by Hilton Pleasant View won’t be opening its doors on December 7 as developers had hoped, but guests will be enjoying rooms by the end of the year provided the weather does not complicate matters at the four-story hotel.
“Weather can always impact us. If we get any early December snow, that could push things back. If cities where deliveries are coming from are hit by bad weather, that could have an impact as well,” said Inga Baekkelund, General Manager, Hampton Inn by Hilton Pleasant View.
A lot of progress is still being made on the inside of the four-story structure. Interior finishes are underway, according to Baekkelund. Crews are painting ceilings and walls, as well as installing wallpaper and carpet. Electrical wiring is coming right along, with lighting in the hallways. Every room also has its own heating and cooling system, she added. Furniture, fixtures, and equipment for the rooms will be coming in the next month and a half.
When the doors open, there will be some special perks for guests. During the first two weeks of operation, Cheatham County residents who show a valid ID will be eligible for a special discount, Baekkelund said. In addition, guests who join the free Hilton Honors customer appreciation program will able to utilize new technology in their rooms. She said the property on Highway 49 is going to be one of the first few hotels in the Hampton Inn family to test out the new Connected Room technology. “You can control the temperature on your thermostat in your room, as well as the lighting, and your television with your mobile phone” utilizing a special app, Baekkelund explained.
As far as staffing goes, a new assistant manager has been hired, but Hampton Inn officials are still seeking about 20 other people for various positions. A job fair will be held November 15 and 16 at Pleasant View City Hall. The hours will be from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Saturday. Managers, maintenance workers, housekeepers, breakfast crew, and team members to run the front desk are all still needed.
