Mothers are always seeking the best for their little ones, and in the case of Anna DiCarlo, owner, La Belle Naturelle LLC, that search led to the creation of a skincare line based on natural products made without preservatives, dyes, parabens, or other harmful chemicals. Every product is made fresh from raw ingredients like oils, butters, and extracts specifically for each customer. That concept, created in 2012, has gotten such a great response that DiCarlo is taking her homegrown business to a storefront on Highway 49 in Pleasant View.
Her daughter struggled with chemically induced eczema as a baby, and DiCarlo followed her daughter’s doctor’s advice to see if it might be linked to the chemicals in baby products. Even organic products have a percentage of chemicals allowed in them, she discovered, so DiCarlo started researching in scientific journals and studies. A little later, she created her first product – body butter – using ingredients sourced naturally and organically from the U.S. and around the world.
Since then, DiCarlo has branched out into 140 products, including cleansers, toners, masques, bar shampoo, lip gloss, as well as products for moms, babies, and men. She tests out her products on herself, family, and friends.
“If it’s not good enough for my family or myself, I don’t launch it,” DiCarlo said.
While clients typically turn to La Belle Naturelle LLC for skin care, she has bronzer and anti-shine powder. DiCarlo is also working on a highlighter to accentuate healthy skin, and she doesn’t recommend people wear makeup to hide their skin.
“To promote covering yourself up is a contradiction,” she said. “I don’t feel like it’s right. Only wear makeup because you want to, not because you have to.”
DiCarlo’s looking to open the storefront at 2515 Highway 49 in October.
