Burn Permit Season Starts Early in TN

Due to the extremely hot, dry weather conditions across Tennessee, the Division of Forestry launched its burn permit season a few weeks early, on Monday, Sept. 23. Burn permits are usually required statewide from Oct. 15 – May 15.

While Tennessee has not seen an increase in wildfires, safety is a major concern.

The Division of Forestry will not issue permits on days when burning carries a greater risk.

In neighboring Robertson County, agricultural officials have issued a burn ban prohibiting any open air burning of any kind.
