Christopher Duncan, Ariel Robinson, and Timothy Shoffner have received their punishment for their role in a violent 2016 Ashland City home invasion.
On Tuesday, August 6, Circuit Court Judge Suzanne Lockert-Mash presided over the trial and announced a 78-year sentence for Duncan, a 37-year sentence for Robinson, and a 162-year sentence for Shoffner.
On April 11, 2016, the trio illegally entered Frank Burnette's residence on Beech Grove Road.
“His hands and feet were bound with duct tape and a pistol pressed to his head. The defendants repeatedly kicked the victim as they demanded the PIN number to his bank card. A shot was fired over the victim’s head. A fire was ignited with the intent to burn the victim and his home,” reads a press release from the office of District Attorney General Ray Crouch, Jr.
On May 24, 2019, a Cheatham County jury convicted Duncan, Robinson, and Shoffner of Attempted Second Degree Murder, Aggravated Arson, Especially Aggravated Kidnapping, Aggravated Robbery, and Theft.
The victim’s “courageous” testimony helped Assistant District Attorneys Margaret Sagi and David Wyatt prosecute the case on behalf of the State.
District Attorney General Ray Crouch, Jr. said, “This is precisely the type of violent criminal conduct that must be met with severe punishment.”
