On July 25, local boxer Ty Tomlin took time out of his busy schedule to speak to children at the Community Day School in Pleasant View.
To his attentive, youthful audience, Tomlin spoke about his boxing journey and the hard work it took to get where he is today.
“I want to be a role model to others in the community and I feel like talking with them is a great start,” he says.
When Tomlin opened the floor for questions, he was in for some laughter.
“When I told them I may be traveling to Florida for my next fight in November, they asked if they could all come,” Tomlin laughs.
As for his upcoming match against Kevin “Tiger” Cooper on August 17, Tomlin says he is excited to show off all of his hard work.
“I feel great heading into the August fight,” he says of his first headline fight.
“Our training and weight cut has all gone very smoothly.”
The Main Event matchup will be held at the Nashville Fairgrounds and be the largest boxing event the Nashville area has seen in a decade.
