The Cheatham County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI), received information that an employee of the Cheatham County Jail was introducing drugs into the facility and providing them to inmates.
A joint investigation was conducted and resulted in the arrest of Correctional Deputy Mason Carr late last night.
Carr has been employed at the jail since 2017, and was charged with intent to resale, introduction into a correctional facility, and possession of a firearm in commission of a felony. He remains in custody until a bond hearing is set.
For Carr's safety, he was transported to an out-of-county jail.
The TBI was requested to lead in the investigation which is on-going.
