UT/TSU Extension Welcomes Connor Murphy

UT/TSU Extension Cheatham County would like to extend a warm welcome to Connor Murphy. Mr. Murphy will be serving as a Career Edge Intern in the field of Family and Consumer Sciences over the summer. During his ten -week placement Mr. Murphy will have an opportunity to work with the Family and Consumer Sciences Agent, 4-H Youth Development Agents and Agriculture Agent. ‘This is a wonderful opportunity for a college student to explore all things Extension!,” exclaimed Aneta Eichler, FCS Lead Agent.

A few of Mr. Murphy’s planned activities include, working with the Kingston Springs and Ashland City Farmer’s Markets, serving as a leader at 4-H Jr. Camp, leading team building activities at Pegram 1st Baptist summer youth program, conducting a lunch-n-learn at the Sr. Center and developing a needs assessment for our community. “I am very excited to see what Extension has to offer,” states Connor Murphy, Career Edge Intern.

Mr. Murphy is currently attending Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, TN. He will graduate in August with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Family and Consumer Studies with an emphasis on Child Development and Family Studies. His interests outside of studying includes bicycling, music, reading, collecting art and antiques, and spending time outdoors.

The TN Extension internship Program is designed to offer prospective county Extension agents with an opportunity to study, observe and participate in a dynamic county Extension program. These experiences are designed to help the intern further develop understanding of Extension program planning, program execution and evaluation processes. Mr. Murphy began his internship on May 22, 2019 and will conclude on July 31, 2019.
