Cattlemen Conduct 11th Scholarship Benefit

The Cheatham County Cattlemen’s Association recently held its 11th Annual College Scholarship Dinner and Benefit Auction at the Livery Stables in Pleasant View, TN. Five local high school Seniors and college students each received $750 scholarships for the 2019-2020 school year.

Funds for this year’s college scholarship winners came from local donors and a live auction which combined, yielded nearly $4,000.

Over the past 10 years, the association has provided nearly $40,000 in scholarships for 23 students, pursuing degrees in any area of Agricultural and Natural Resource Science studies.

Also at this year’s event, a Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Mr. Charles Head (brother of Coach Pat Head Summitt) by the UT Cheatham County Extension and the Cheatham County Cattlemen’s Association. Mr. Head, who recently retired from nearly 50 years of farming, has served his community on numerous ag related boards and has been a strong leader and supporter of the cattlemen’s association for many years. As a dark-fired tobacco producer and beef cattle producer, he not only provided for his family, but was a huge help to others in any time of need.

With the help of association members, local businesses, local leaders, and other volunteers, this year’s event was a great success.
