Simply put, the Cheatham County Community Enhancement Coalition cannot exist without volunteers.
The men and women who volunteer their time and talent in supporting the community through the CCCEC were recognized during the first Volunteer Appreciation Dinner, which was held May 10 at Riverview Restaurant and Marina in Ashland City.
“The Appreciation Dinner is just a small way for us to thank our volunteers,” said Laura Durham, the CCCEC Director. “We could not meet our goals without the support of our volunteers. We are appreciative of their commitment to the coalition.”
CCCEC Chairperson Trish Sanders presided over the program, and she noted that volunteers are an integral part of the coalition’s success.
During the program, Sanders presented Durham with a proclamation from Cheatham County Mayor Kerry McCarver. The proclamation recognized Durham for her tireless effort in establishing and sustaining the CCCEC and carrying out the organization’s mission.
Special certificates of appreciation were presented to the following volunteers: GeorgeAnn Raines, Claudette Fizer, Valerie Dreier, Liz Drake, Charles Corbett, Ashley Bridgman, Chris Gilmore, Jeff Bennett and Tim Adkins.
The guest speaker was Doc Holladay, who shared his story of addiction and inspiring road to recovery. Holladay, a singer/songwriter, performed several original songs for those in attendance.
The CCCEC brings together representatives from the county’s public health programs, schools, law enforcement providers, faith communities, governments and organizations to promote, strengthen and coordinate community partnerships to create a safe, healthy and drug-free community.
The CCCEC meets the fourth Monday of each month at 6 p.m. at Community Bank & Trust in Ashland City.
