Joelton’s Viv & Dickey’s to Take Part in ‘Record Store Day’

Calling it a “historic day in Cheatham County,” Viv & Dickey’s owner Phillip Ruiz is giddy with excitement as he and his wife, Melanie, prepare for Record Store Day— their first.

The treasured annual event, scheduled for this Saturday, unites music lovers, artists, and record store owners around the globe. Getting its start in 2007, Record Store Day is held in April of every year to celebrate the unique culture of independently owned record stores everywhere.

A special highlight of the annual tradition is the exclusive release of records that are distributed only to stores participating in the world-wide event.

“Record Store Day is a great opportunity for people that have not been to our store— or perhaps any record store,” says vinyl enthusiast, Ruiz.

Viv & Dickey’s, located at 1262 Jackson Felts Road in Joelton, will open their doors promptly at 9 AM Saturday morning. In addition to their impressive collection of records, attendees can expect special promos, discounts, raffles, and all of the other vintage merchandise shoppers have grown to love since their opening in September of last year.

Proud to be sharing this experience with their community, Phillip and Melanie have been busy preparing all week, and will be closed Friday, April 20, to continue getting ready for the “big day.”
