Jared’s Keepers Foundation, Inc and American Foundation for Suicide Prevention Hosts Survivor Day Hosted by Jared’s Keepers Foundation, Inc and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, International Survivors of Suicide Loss Day (Survivor Day) is Saturday November 18 -- the one day a year when people affected by suicide loss gather around the world at events in their local communities to find comfort and gain understanding as they share stories of healing and hope. Survivor Day is free and open to the public. To find a local event, you can visit www.afsp.org/survivorday. There are over 375 Survivor Day events in 18 countries. This year, all gatherings will include a screening of The Journey: A Story of Healing and Hope, an AFSP-produced documentary about the suicide loss experience, as well a new follow-up featurette, The Journey Revisited, in which six of the original Journey participants gather three years later to reflect on how their grief and healing journey is evolving. Jared’s Keepers Foundation, Inc cofounder, Deb Martin, has been active with the AFSP since the loss of her 17-year-old son Jared in 2014. She underwent training and became a field advocate for the Caribbean. “I never was told the facts, or any information for that matter, about teen suicide. I only knew what we learn on the street as truth. My hope is to bring the facts to light for all parents to be aware of reality and know the signs so they can save their child and not live the hell I do each day, the same hell all parents live that have lost a child to suicide.” Jared’s Keepers Foundation, Inc will be hosting events in the following locations beginning at 10 local time. Grace Southern Baptist Church – Virden, Illinois Pegram Town Hall - Pegram, Tennessee University of the Virgin Islands – St. Croix, USVI Palms Ville Conference Room Rodney Bay Gros Islet – Castries, St Lucia For more information please contact Deb Martin at 615-347-3104 or deb@jaredskeepers.com
