The Tennessee State Board of Education will hold its final quarterly meeting of 2017 at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville on Thursday, October 19 and Friday, October 20, 2017. This is the first time that the State Board of Education will be meeting in the Knoxville area for a regular quarterly meeting.

The State Board of Education will hear from the State Board staff and the Tennessee Department of Education at the Thursday workshop on various topics ranging from updates to early learning development standards, strategic compensation updates and Milestones in Tennessee Education. The agenda for the Thursday workshop is posted on the State Board of Education website here. The workshop will be held at the Baker Center Toyota Auditorium from 12:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. EDT. The workshop will be livestreamed here. Prior to Thursday’s workshop, members of the State Board of Education will visit two Anderson County Schools, Norwood Elementary and Norwood Middle School. The school visit was organized in collaboration with the University of Tennessee’s College of Education, Health and Human Sciences.
The State Board of Education will hold the voting portion of the quarterly meeting on Friday, October 20, 2017. Board members will hear items on both first and final reading. The board meeting will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. EDT at the Baker Center Toyota Auditorium. The meeting will be livestreamed here for those unable to attend.
