May the Music Bring them Home

Local singer/songwriter Randy Gore has been using his musical talents to shine the spotlight on Jennifer and Adrianna Wix, a young woman and her daughter who went missing out of Cross Plains, Tennessee, in March of 2004.

Last year, with the encouragement of Jennifer Wix's mother, a close friend of Gore, he decided to enter his song, “Have You Seen Me Lately?” into the GINA Songwriter Contest put on by the GINA FOUNDation, an organization created in 2001 to help locate missing persons.

The annual contest not only gives songwriters a platform to have their songs heard by industry professionals and win prizes, but also brings visibility and awareness to those who have gone missing.

This year, Gore and his Pleasant View-based band, Elijah’s Sky, have entered their song, “Straight Line to You,” that has been dedicated to the Wix girls once again, and a teenage boy, Devin Ray Bond, who went missing this March out of Rutherford County.

Gore and his inaugural entry, “Have you Seen Me Lately?” made it into to the top 10 finalist bracket of the 2016 contest. And, as of press time, “Straight Line to You” was ranked in third place.

With Gore on guitar, Pam Gentry on vocals, Stave Tabor on bass, and Steve Crady on drums, they believe they have a good shot at making it into the top 10 once again, or maybe even win it all.

This year’s prizes include, but are not limited to, a Gretsch guitar, a demo recording, and a songwriting consultation which, he says if they win, they will donate to the families of the missing.

“We have all been musicians most of our lives and friends for many combined years,” says Gore. “Of course, musicians generally love the spotlight, but this is about the missing and bringing awareness to their cause. We just happen to get to help out by doing something we love,” he adds.

This year’s contest runs though October 1 and song entries will be posted on the GINA Songwriter Contest YouTube channel. The top 10 contestants, who will be invited out to Los Angeles to perform in November, will be determined by the number of YouTube views and “thumbs ups.”
