Adkins, Jackson to Run Unopposed for Ashland City Council Seat

Tim Adkins and Roger Jackson have filed petitions with the County Election Commission that awarded them two of the three open seats on the Ashland City Council. Both Adkins and Jackson will run unopposed.

There were no petitions filed for Ward 1.

Adkins, the communications director for the Cheatham County School District and 15-year resident of Ashland City, is the only candidate for the Ward 2 seat.

“I am seeking a seat on the Ashland City Council because I am ready to serve my community,” says Adkins. “My experience as the editor of the Ashland City Times has prepared me for the position. I attended and covered the council meetings for 15 years so I have a good understanding of the issues facing the city.”

In Ward 3, incumbent Roger Jackson plans to continue his duty as councilman.

City representatives believe that the empty seat will be appointed after the election; two unfilled positions are allowed at one time.

The election will take place on December 2. Elected officials will take office shortly thereafter and serve a four-year term.
