ASHLAND CITY, TN––Tropical Depression Harvey dumped tons of water on the Colby's Army Learning Center (1394 George Boyd Road, Ashland City, TN 37015) overnight last night and the 501c3 nonprofit therapeutic riding and life learning center sustained significant flood damage to their trails. fences, fields, and pastures. The neighbors say the water was higher last night than during the flood of 2010.
Colby's Army helps people with life challenges through outreach, and interactions with animals and nature. The good news is that the therapy horses and cats, and their homeless backpack donation center are all safe. They also have no electricity, and because the source of the power outage for the entire area is still under water, it may be a few days before they have power.
Most urgent, is repairing the big pasture for the horses. The organization has scheduled an emergency work day tomorrow, Saturday, from 9:00 AM-4:00 PM. They are in desperate need of volunteers to come by for an hour or two to help out; someone with a chainsaw is also needed to come help out.
They hope that a big turnout tomorrow will get at least one of the pastures operational. For now, the horses are confined to the small paddock, and they are not all that happy about it.
