Colby's Army Announces 2nd Annual Extravaganza

The 2nd Annual Colby's Army Extravaganza will be held Saturday, October 21, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. The Extravaganza is a combined mega-yard sale, bake sale, and arts and crafts sale. It is also a day when the public can meet the organization's therapy horses, walk the trails on their beautiful 54-acre facility at 1394 George Boyd Road in Ashland City, and participate in other fun activities.

The 2016 event brought in close to $8,500 for the 501c3 nonprofit, which offers therapeutic riding, equine assisted learning, job training, and organic gardening programs for children and adults with disabilities and other life challenges.

Colby's Army also performs homeless outreach services. "In 2016, the extravaganza was the sale to beat all sales," said Lisa Wysocky, executive director of the organization. "A lot of people walked away with some incredible bargains, and we hope to exceed all of that this year."

Beginning September 16, Colby's Army will accept donations of the following items for the extravaganza: books, DVDs, CDs, audio books, e-readers and tablets; household and kitchen and bath items, fans, furniture, lamps, and small appliances; artwork, art supplies, and arts and crafts; jewelry; baby items, toys and games; tack and other horse equipment; gardening items, backpacks, camping equipment, yard furniture, and lawn equipment; office equipment and supplies; seasonal decorations; and tools, bicycles, vehicles, farm vehicles and equipment, and trailers. The organization requests that all donations be in good working order.

Unfortunately, they cannot take: purses, clothes (other than winter coats, caps, scarves, mittens, and gloves), and shoes; electronics; large appliances; or rugs and mattresses.

Donations will be accepted on the following days and times at the Colby’s Army Learning Center at 1394 George Boyd Road, Ashland City 37015, or by special appointment:

Saturday, September 16, 23, 30, & October 7: Noon-4:00 PM

Tuesday, September 19, & October 10: 11:00 AM-6:00 PM

Thursday, September 21, & October 12: 11:00 AM-6:00 PM

To set up a day and time to donate by appointment, please email info@colbysarmy.org. If donors need an itemized list of their donations, Colby's Army asks that they make out that list themselves, and the organization will give them a donation letter.

D&D Advertising and Heritage Bank Ashland City have come on board as event sponsors. If interested in becoming a sponsor, please email lisa@colbysarmy.org. Sponsor commitments close September 15.

“We thank everyone in advance for contributing. it takes an army of people to keep us going, and cleaning out your closets, basements, and attics is a great way to get involved. We also hope to see everyone for the extravaganza on October 21,” said Lisa Wysocky. “It’s going to be a great day!”
