About the Cheatham County Homeless Coalition:

The purpose of the Cheatham County Homeless Coalition is to bring together stakeholders serving individuals and families in a housing crisis in our county. The Cheatham County Homeless Coalition has held three quarterly meetings so far and engaged close to 40 local and regional organizations that are serving in our county. The goal is to gather more information about available services, learn what specific needs in our county are, and help link people in a housing crisis with supports they need to stabilize their economic, health, and housing situation.

Founding members include representatives of the Cheatham County School District, The Family Collective – Cheatham County, Colby’s Army, and Tackett Consulting LLC, who also launched the first annual Cardboard City event in August of 2023.

“After organizing our first awareness campaign, we realized quickly that there is a need to bring more providers from the nonprofit, faith-based, government, and business sectors together to support households who are experiencing a crisis that could lead to their loss of housing,” said Judith Tackett, regional homelessness expert and principal of Tackett Consulting, LLC. “This spring, we held our first quarterly meeting among local and regional providers that serve Cheatham County, and the response has been surprising so far.”

In June, the Cheatham County Homeless Coalition formed a partnership with the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee. The Cheatham County Homeless Coalition has been able to form thanks to the support of The Family Collective, a regional collaborative of United Way of Greater Nashville.
